What we collect

When you use PlaylistMint you give us two things: your email address and your Library.xml file. The file contains your music library's metadata — track titles, artists, albums, genres, years, play counts, skip counts, and star ratings. It never contains audio; your music files stay on your Mac.

How we use it

Your email address is used to send you the results of your job and for nothing else. Your library metadata is used to classify your tracks and build your playlists.

To classify tracks, we send each track's title, artist, album, genre, year, and BPM to OpenAI's API, sometimes alongside public catalog information from MusicBrainz, Last.fm, and Spotify. We do not send your play counts, skip counts, or ratings to the classifier — that listening history is used only on our servers, to assemble your playlists.

How long we keep it

Your uploaded library file is deleted from working storage as soon as your job finishes processing, and any stored copy is purged within 48 hours. Uploads that never start a job are deleted within 24 hours. Generated output files are kept for up to 7 days and generated script content for up to 30 days, so you can re-download them, then deleted. Your email address is retained with the job record.

Who else is involved

We use OpenAI to classify tracks, an email delivery provider to send your results, and a hosting provider to run the service. Each receives only what it needs to do its job. We do not sell your data, show ads, or use tracking or analytics scripts on this site.

Age

PlaylistMint is for people aged 13 and up. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13; if you believe a child has used the service, contact us and we will delete the data.
